'DON'T LET THAT SMALL JOB BECOME A BIG PROBLEM' SAYS JEWSON AS IT SUPPORTS THIS YEAR'S NATIONAL MAINTENANCE WEEK October 5, 2009

Jewson, the UK's leading supplier of timber and building materials, is once again supporting the Society for the Protection of Ancient Buildings' (SPAB) National Maintenance Week, which runs from Friday 20 November to Friday 27 November.

Now in its seventh year, the aim of National Maintenance Week is to provide homeowners throughout the UK, not just those involved with older buildings, with practical tips and advice on preparing their properties to face the worst that winter can bring. For 2009, Jewson is aiming to let homeowners know that help is at hand and that by contacting their local builder, they could be half way to ensuring that what often starts as a small problem doesn't escalate into a very expensive job.

Lindsey Walker, Marketing Services Director at Jewson, comments: "Many of us are unable to address the problems created through not attending to a property's basic maintenance requirements and it is people like us who would benefit significantly from the help of a professional builder. By employing the services of a builder, the homeowner is not only guaranteed expert advice and knowledge but they are likely to make substantial long term financial savings as a result of taking immediate action and preventing a minor task from becoming a major job."

SPAB is Britain's oldest conservation body fighting to save old buildings from decay and dereliction however the message of National Maintenance Week is relevant to everyone who owns or cares for a property, whether it's 500-years-old or brand new.National Maintenance Week concludes with National Gutters Day on Friday 27 November, which aims to remind property owners that just a few minutes spent clearing weeds and debris, or just a few pounds spent to mend a leaky gutter, can save many hundreds, and possibly thousands of pounds long term.
